January 10, 2012 Board of Education meeting Policy 5800 – Family Involvement, was amended and renamed Family Engagement. The Board reiterated its support of the Family Engagement Standards.

At the August 23, 2011 Policy 5210 – Student Personal Electronic Devices was adopted. The policy deals with hand-held personal electronic devices such as cell phones, tablets, laptops, etc.  Due to the adoption of Policy 5210, Regulation 5200 A –City-Wide Discipline Policy Procedures was amended to remove the prohibition of cell phones, pagers, etc.

On August 9, 2011 The Board of Directors amende policies 5700 - Special Education, and 5741 - Special Education Placement Policy and changed the name of Policy 5741 to Special Education Placement.

On September 14, 2010 the Board of Directors amended policies 5262 - Assignment of Students to Schools and 5263 - Sibling Preference.  The Superintendent has promulgated Regulations 5262 A - Protocols for School Asssignment and 5263 A - Definitions: Sibling Preference to implement the policies.

On April 13, 2010 The Board of Directors amended Policy 5100 - Attendance, and the Superintendent has promulgated Regulations 5100 A (Rules and Procedures), 5100 B (Attendance Expectations and Interventions) and 5100 C (Enforcement of Compulsory Instruction)  and repealed Policy 5180.  The Superintendent has repealed Regulations 5180 A and 5180 B.

On November 10, 2009 the Board of Directors amended Policy 5391 - Graduation Requirements

On September 29, 2009 The Board of Directors repealed Policy 5542 - Distribution of Flyers.  This topic is now covered in Policy 1060 in the Community Relations Chapter of the policy manual.
